Vintage Racing

The racing bug bit when I crewed for automotive journalist Kevin Clemmens in the mid-1990's. In 1997, I purchased the'68 MG Midget Kevin had prepared for a series of magazine articles on vintage racing. Several disasters and iterations later, and a brief "fling" with an MGB, and I am still racing that Midget. Prepared according to the British-Leyland Special Tuning Manual to Stage 2 specifications, the car is street-legal, tagged and insured. It races in much the same livery as the factory endurance teams ran in Europe in the 1960's. Although not as developed (i.e., modified) as SCCA cars of the period, the #49 "Works Midget" typically runs mid-pack, dicing with MGAs, bugeye Sprites, and various small-bore vintage sedans.
